WHEELDRIVE – Volvo Trucks Indonesia has officially introduced the new Volvo Trucks FMX Edge at Mining Expo 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday (September 9, 2026). The latest truck is designed with a dedicated configuration to support high-volume material hauling in demanding mining environments.
The FMX Edge has been developed to meet the growing needs of mining operators, particularly in productivity, operational efficiency, safety, reliability, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Built on the proven Volvo Trucks FMX platform, the FMX Edge features a configuration optimized for overburden removal and bulk material transportation.
Volvo Trucks said more than 2,000 FMX trucks are currently operating at mining sites across Indonesia. This extensive track record provides the foundation for the development of the FMX Edge, which is tailored to meet the demanding requirements of heavy-duty mining operations.
One of the key highlights is its 38 m³ SAE heap body with a Scow End design. The body has a width of 2.8 meters and is designed to be compatible with large excavators commonly used in mining operations.
“Indonesia’s mining industry requires transportation solutions that can deliver higher productivity while maintaining operational reliability, safety, and long-term value,” said Markus Fankhauser, Sales Director of Volvo Trucks Indonesia.
According to Fankhauser, the FMX Edge is not focused solely on carrying larger volumes of material. Volvo Trucks has also designed the truck to improve cycle efficiency, maximize vehicle uptime, and help operators optimize costs throughout the vehicle’s operating life.

The FMX Edge also retains Volvo core characteristics, including durability, safety, fuel efficiency, uptime, and driver comfort. Meanwhile, Bambang Prijono, Director of Commercial Vehicle & Heavy Equipment at Indomobil Group, said the introduction of the FMX Edge expands Volvo Trucks’ range of solutions for Indonesia’s mining industry.
“Built on a platform that has earned the trust of customers across Indonesia, the Volvo Trucks FMX Edge expands our offering with a solution tailored to the specific requirements of mining operations,” said Bambang.
The launch of the FMX Edge at Mining Expo 2026 further strengthens Volvo Trucks Indonesia’s strategy of providing vehicles specifically adapted to the operational conditions of the country’s mining industry. This commitment is supported by Volvo Trucks’ nationwide sales and service network.
With its 38 m³ body capacity, configuration for overburden removal and bulk material transportation, and proven FMX platform already represented by more than 2,000 units operating in Indonesia, the FMX Edge is positioned as a heavy-duty hauling solution designed to help mining operators increase productivity while maintaining long-term operational efficiency.
