WHEELDRIVE – Changan Indonesia has officially launched the Deepal S05, an electrified SUV offered in two powertrain options: Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV). The launch marks Changan’s commitment to providing more flexible electrified mobility solutions for consumers through two drivetrain choices in a single model.
Carrying the tagline “Extend Your Freedom,” the Deepal S05 is designed to give customers greater flexibility in choosing a vehicle that best suits their lifestyle and driving needs. The BEV variant is aimed at drivers seeking a fully electric, zero-emission vehicle, while the REEV version combines an electric motor with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery, helping extend driving range.
Setiawan Surya, CEO of Changan Indonesia, said the introduction of the Deepal S05 reflects the company’s commitment to delivering a more comfortable, practical, and flexible electrified driving experience for consumers.
In addition to its advanced electrification technology, the Deepal S05 features a futuristic design, a premium cabin, and a range of smart technologies, including a 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen display, a panoramic roof, an augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), and an Indonesian-language intelligent voice assistant.
In terms of performance, the BEV variant offers a driving range of up to 470 kilometers on a full charge under the NEDC standard. Meanwhile, the REEV variant delivers a combined driving range of more than 1,100 kilometers, including up to 170 kilometers of pure electric driving.
To enhance safety, the Deepal S05 is equipped with 19 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, a high-strength body structure, and safety technologies that meet global standards.
With the launch of the Deepal S05, Changan aims to strengthen its position in the electrified vehicle market while offering consumers a more efficient, comfortable, and versatile mobility solution.
