WHEELDRIVE – Subaru Indonesia introduced the all-new seventh-generation Subaru Outback at the 2026 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The latest flagship SUV made its Southeast Asian debut in Indonesia, marking a major evolution of the Outback into a more upright and distinctly SUV-oriented model.
Built around the #EveryRoadFeelsLikeHome philosophy, the new Outback is designed to combine everyday comfort, all-road capability, and advanced safety technology.

The seventh-generation Outback features a more upright stance and a stronger SUV character. Its flat roofline not only reinforces its rugged appearance but also provides increased headroom and cargo capacity.
The front end features a more prominent grille and Steering Responsive Headlights (SRH), designed to improve visibility when driving at night.
Outback offers the new Outback in five exterior colors: Crystal White Pearl, Crystal Black Silica, Brilliant Bronze Metallic, River Rock Pearl, and Deep Emerald Pearl.
Inside, comfort is one of the key areas of improvement. The cabin adopts a “living room-like comfort” concept, while enhanced sound insulation reduces NVH levels by up to 10 percent.
The Luxury Nappa Leather seats feature ventilation and an ergonomic medical-seat design intended to reduce driver and passenger fatigue during long journeys.
The cabin is also equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.1-inch infotainment display. An immersive Harman Kardon Premium Car Entertainment System with 13 speakers and a power amplifier enhances the audio experience for all occupants, whether driving around town or traveling long distances.
Under the hood, Outback retains its signature Boxer engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. The new Outback is available with two engine options: a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, both paired with a Lineartronic CVT.
A 220 mm ground clearance gives the Outback additional capability when dealing with uneven or challenging road surfaces. Combined with Symmetrical AWD, the Boxer engine, and the Vehicle Dynamic Control System, the SUV is designed to deliver stability and confidence across a wide range of driving conditions.
For the Indonesian market, the all-new Outback 2.5i-Touring EyeSight is priced at IDR 1.025 billion on the road in Jakarta. Safety remains one of the Outback’s key strengths. The SUV is built on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP) and incorporates Subaru’s four-layer safety concept, covering Primary Safety, Active Safety, Preventive Safety, and Passive Safety.
The latest-generation Subaru EyeSight® driver-assistance system forms a major part of the safety package. Its features include Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering, Lane Departure Prevention, Emergency Stop Assist, Emergency Pre-Collision Steering, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, and Lane Sway Warning.
For passive protection, the Outback is equipped with nine airbags, including a far-side airbag. The Subaru Global Platform, collapsible engine design, and side-impact beams are also engineered to provide additional protection in the event of a collision.
The combination of these safety technologies has earned the new Outback a 2026 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating. Subaru also equips the SUV with a Driver Monitoring System and Vehicle Dynamic Control System to help monitor driver condition and maintain vehicle stability.
Subaru is also offering a comprehensive ownership package. The Outback comes with a three-year or 100,000-kilometer vehicle warranty, three years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, and five years of Subaru Roadside Assistance, including 24/7 emergency assistance.
The seventh-generation Outback’s arrival at GIIAS 2026 further highlights Indonesia’s importance to Subaru in the Southeast Asian market. With its Boxer engine, Symmetrical AWD, 220 mm ground clearance, nine airbags, and latest-generation EyeSight technology, the new Outback aims to deliver a well-rounded package, comfortable for daily driving, capable on long-distance journeys, and ready to tackle a wider variety of road conditions.
