WHEELDRIVE – Following the global debut of the right-hand drive (RHD) version at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, iCAR conducted a comprehensive real-world test of the iCAR V27 Golden REEV using left-hand drive (LHD) units with international media, including participants from Indonesia. The test combined a 160 km long-distance drive with extreme off-road evaluation, highlighting the V27’s performance, efficiency, and versatility as a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV).
The iCAR V27 is designed for global markets, including right-hand drive countries such as Indonesia, where long-distance driving and diverse road conditions are common. With its extended range and intelligent all-wheel drive system, the V27 aims to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles that can handle both urban and off-road environments.
“Through direct testing with media, including from Indonesia—where long-distance travel is part of everyday mobility, whether for leisure or seasonal journeys such as homecoming trips—we want to show that the V27 is not only technologically ready but also highly relevant in real-world usage. Its combination of efficiency, long driving range, and off-road capability answers increasingly diverse mobility needs,” said Mark Yang, Country Director of iCAR Indonesia.
The test drive, branded as the Global Classic Journey, covered approximately 160 kilometers across Wuhu and Nanjing, combining city roads, highways, and mixed terrain in one continuous route. The iCAR V27 demonstrated stable handling and smooth power delivery, supported by the i-AWD (Intelligent All-Wheel Drive) system, which maintains optimal traction across changing road conditions.
Equipped with a MacPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, the V27 offers a balanced driving experience between comfort and control, making it suitable for long-distance travel. The Golden REEV system delivers consistent acceleration, low cabin noise, and strong energy efficiency.
One of the key highlights of the iCAR V27 Golden REEV is its driving range. The vehicle is capable of traveling over 1,000 kilometers, with more than 150 kilometers in pure electric mode. This makes it a strong candidate for long road trips, especially in regions with limited charging infrastructure.
During the journey, the route passed through Gaochun Old Street and the scenic “Mirror of the Sky,” where varying road conditions showcased the vehicle’s adaptability. The V27 also features an external power output of up to 6 kW, allowing users to power outdoor equipment, making it suitable for camping and lifestyle activities.
The test continued with an extreme off-road session in Longshan, a professional off-road testing ground designed to simulate real-world challenging conditions. The course included steep climbs, rocky terrain, sand, loose soil, and water crossings.
In these demanding conditions, the i-AWD system, suspension setup, and vehicle control systems worked together to maintain stability, traction, and precision. The iCAR V27 remained responsive and controlled even during rapid terrain changes, proving its capability as both a daily vehicle and an off-road performer.
The evaluation also involved experienced drivers, including Indonesian Dakar Rally driver and off-road enthusiast Julian Johan, also known as Jejelogy, who tested the V27 across extreme conditions.
“I’m quite impressed—this car exceeded my expectations. Despite its boxy design, the V27 is fun to drive both on-road and off-road. The suspension is comfortable and well-balanced between daily driving and off-road capability. What stands out the most is its long driving range, which makes it ideal for long-distance road trips with the efficiency of an electric vehicle,” he said.
Through this testing program, iCAR demonstrated the real-world capability of the iCAR V27 Golden REEV while gathering insights for global markets, including Indonesia. With the introduction of the RHD version, iCAR is preparing to expand the V27 into markets with diverse mobility needs, supported by features tailored to local driving conditions.
